Tutorial · The Table

Run a virtual table read.

The Table runs virtual table reads with video, a synced script, an AI narrator, and scene audio. This guide covers setting one up, inviting cast, and running the read.

01 When to use it

Testing a script

Hear your script read aloud before you shoot, so you can catch what works and what doesn’t.

Reading remotely

Run a full table read with cast in different places, over video, with everyone on the same page.

Setting the mood

Add scene music and ambient sound, and let an AI narrator read the action lines.

02 Manual — step by step

1 Create a table read

  1. Click New Table Read and give it a title.
  2. Paste or upload your script.
  3. Choose the features you want — AI narrator, scene audio — then create it.
Tip: Setup takes a minute; the room does the rest.

2 Invite your cast

  1. Open the session and copy the Join Link.
  2. Send it to your cast; they join by video.
  3. Everyone appears in the room together.
Tip: No installs — people join in the browser.

3 Run the read

  1. In the room: video on one side, script in the center, cast on the other.
  2. Advance the read so everyone stays on the same line.
  3. The current line is highlighted as you go.
Tip: The synced script keeps a remote cast perfectly aligned.

4 Use the AI narrator and scene audio

  1. Turn on the AI narrator to read action, headings, and transitions.
  2. Add scene music or ambient sound to set the tone.
  3. Adjust volume from the audio controls.
Tip: Great for solo reads or filling in missing readers.

5 Take notes

  1. Add a note on any line as you read.
  2. Review your notes after the session.
Tip: Notes are tied to the exact line, so feedback is easy to act on.
