01 When to use it

Writing a feature or pilot

Draft a full screenplay with correct formatting for scene headings, action, character, dialogue, and transitions — without setting up templates or fighting margins.

Getting unstuck

Use AI brainstorming to work through a scene, generate options for a line, or explore where a story could go next.

Getting notes

Generate coverage — a professional-style read with a synopsis and notes on structure, characters, and marketability — before sending your script out.

Writing with a team

Co-write in real time with version history, so a writers’ room or a writing partner can work on the same script safely.

02 Manual — step by step

1 Create a script and write your first scene

  1. From the dashboard, click New Script and give it a title.
  2. Type a scene heading starting with INT. or EXT. — it auto-formats.
  3. Press Enter and type an action line describing what happens.
  4. Type a character name in caps; it centers automatically, and the next line becomes dialogue.
  5. Keep going — the editor handles all the formatting as you write.
Tip: Everything you type is saved automatically, and you can reopen the script anytime from Projects.

2 Use AI to brainstorm and rewrite

  1. Open the AI panel from the editor toolbar.
  2. Ask it to brainstorm a beat, suggest a line, or rework a passage.
  3. Review the suggestions and keep what works — you stay in control of the script.
Tip: AI actions use Producers Credit; the cost is shown before you run one.

3 Generate script coverage

  1. Open your script and choose Coverage.
  2. The AI reads the whole script and returns a synopsis plus notes on structure, characters, and marketability.
  3. Save the report to revisit it later or compare drafts.
Tip: Coverage is a professional-style read — a great gut-check before you share your script.

4 Collaborate in real time

  1. Open a script and use Share to invite a collaborator.
  2. You both edit the same script live, with changes appearing as they happen.
  3. Use version history to see earlier drafts and restore if needed.
Tip: Version history means nothing is ever truly lost.

5 Export your screenplay

  1. Open the script and choose Export.
  2. Pick your format: PDF, Final Draft (FDX), or Fountain.
  3. Download the file to share or submit.
Tip: Export is a paid feature; free accounts can write and edit, and subscribe to export.
