We take your privacy seriously. We collect personal information that you provide, as well as technical information generated when you use the Services. We use this information to operate and improve Writers Room, to communicate with you, and to comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal data. You control much of the information we hold about you and can request access, updates or deletion. We use safeguards to protect your data and only share information with third parties who help deliver our Services or as required by law.

What This Policy Covers

This policy explains how Notis Studios LLC and its affiliates collect, use, share and store information about you when you use the Services or interact with us. It also describes your rights and choices with respect to your personal information.

If our Services are provided under a contract with an organisation (for example, your film school or employer), that organisation controls the information processed by the Services. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not access or use the Services.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide:

• Account and Profile Details. When you register or update an account, we collect information such as your name, username, password, email address, phone number, billing and payment information, profile photo and display name.
• Content You Create. Scripts, character bios, scene outlines, brainstorming notes, comments, attachments and other files you create and store.
• Support Communications. Information you provide when you contact us for help, including contact details, descriptions of issues and supporting materials.
• Payment Information. Payment and billing details needed to process your transactions, handled by trusted third-party providers.

Information We Collect Automatically:

• Usage Information. How you interact with the Services — features you use, scripts you create, search queries, clicks, and file types you upload.
• Device and Connection Information. Technical data about the devices you use, such as IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers, and network settings.
• Cookies and Similar Technologies. We use cookies to recognise you, remember your preferences, and analyse usage patterns.

Your Scripts & Your IP

Writers Room exists to help you create scripts. The scripts, character bios, beat sheets, treatments, notes, and any other creative material you write or upload remain your intellectual property. We make no claim of ownership over your work.

• No copyright transfer. Uploading or drafting a script in Writers Room does not transfer any copyright, trademark, or other IP rights to Notis Studios LLC.
• License limited to running the service. You grant us only the narrow technical license needed to host, back up, render, and display your scripts back to you and to collaborators you explicitly invite. That license ends when you delete the content or close your account.
• Confidentiality of unreleased work. We treat unreleased scripts as confidential. We do not display, share, distribute, or feature your work outside your account and your invited collaborators. We do not use your scripts in marketing without explicit written permission.
• Collaborator access is logged and revocable. When you share a script with a co-writer, producer, or reader, that access is recorded and can be revoked at any time.

AI Features & Training

Writers Room includes AI writing assistance — line suggestions, structure checks, breakdown helpers. Here's exactly how that works.

We do not use your scripts to train AI models. Your scripts, projects, and uploaded files are never used to train, fine-tune, retrain, evaluate, or improve any AI or machine-learning model — ours or any third party's. This applies to all current and future versions of Writers Room.

• Inference only. When you trigger an AI suggestion, the relevant portion of your script is sent to the model only to generate the response you asked for, then discarded from the inference pipeline.
• Provider contracts. Where we route AI requests through third-party model providers, we do so under contracts that prohibit those providers from training on or retaining your content beyond the operational window needed to return a response.
• No shadow profiles. We do not build hidden profiles of your writing style or voice for resale, training, or recommendation engines.
• AI outputs are yours. Suggestions and generated text delivered to you through Writers Room are yours to keep, edit, or discard.
• Opt-in only, if ever. If we ever offer a program where writers can voluntarily contribute material to improve a feature, it will be a clearly marked opt-in. It will never be the default.

How We Use Information

• Provide and Customise the Services. Set up your account, deliver scripts and project files, enable collaboration and AI assistance, process payments, and operate our Services.
• Improve and Develop Products. Analyse usage and technical data to troubleshoot issues, enhance performance, and develop new features.
• Communicate with You. Send administrative, technical and transactional messages, as well as marketing messages if you opt-in.
• Provide Customer Support. Resolve technical issues, respond to queries and improve our support services.
• Ensure Safety and Compliance. Protect our Services, investigate suspicious activity, enforce our Terms of Use and comply with legal obligations.

How We Share Information

• Collaboration with Other Users. When you invite other users to work on a script or project, they can see your name, profile details and the content you share with them.
• Service Providers. We use third-party vendors for hosting, analytics, payment processing, customer support and marketing.
• Compliance and Protection. We may disclose information to comply with the law, respond to legal requests, or protect the safety of our users or the public.
• Business Transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

We do not sell your personal information to advertisers or other third parties.

Storage, Security and Retention

We use reputable data hosting providers located in the United States and other jurisdictions to store and process your information. We employ administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect your data — encrypted transport, hashed passwords, access controls, and audit logs. Nevertheless, no system can guarantee absolute security. If you have reason to believe that your account or data is no longer secure, please contact us immediately.

We keep your active scripts and projects for as long as your Writers Room account is active. When you delete a script or close your account, the content is removed from active systems immediately and purged from routine backups within 30 days — except where we are legally required to retain it longer (for example, billing records under tax law). You can request an export of your scripts at any time.

Your Rights and Choices

• Access and Update. You can view and update certain personal information via your account settings.
• Deactivate or Delete Your Account. You or your administrator can deactivate your account. You may also delete certain information within the Services.
• Object or Restrict Processing. You may request that we stop processing certain information.
• Opt-Out of Marketing. Use the unsubscribe link in our marketing emails or contact us to opt out.
• Data Portability. Where required by law, you can request a portable copy of your personal data.
• Lodge a Complaint. If you believe your rights have been violated, you may lodge a complaint with a data protection authority in your country or region.

Children's Privacy

The Services are not intended for children under 16 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we become aware that a child has provided personal information, we will take steps to delete it. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or the law. We will post any updates on this page and, if the changes are significant, we will provide a more prominent notice. Continuing to use the Services after an update means you accept the revised policy.
